Train

So I'm barely awake on a midnight train
Got a virus holding hostage in my head
Thinking for sure I'll be fine with a whiskey cure
Like the last time and the time before

Had a woman she was magnetic north to me
But I guess I got lost guess that makes sense
I was thinking about all the things I never say
She packed her bags and she went away

And I'm so tired of being apathetic
In the cool antiseptic of October nights
And I'm so tired of shrugging my shoulders
Pretending I'm older and everything's fine
And I look up and everyone's gone
And the train rolling on through the darkness that begins
Every year about this time when I start to unwind
Every time and again

And I'm barely awake on a midnight train
I'm wasted and wounded feel like my time's running out
I was thinking about the girl who's just bound to come around
Cuz I need someone I need someone now

And I'm so tired of being apatheticIn the cool antiseptic of October nights
And I'm so tired of shrugging my shoulders
Pretending I'm older and everything's fine
And I look up and everyone's gone
And the train rolling on through the darkness that begins
Every year about this time when I start to unwind
Every time and again

Stare out the window at nothing in America
With towns like little postcards run away behind
And I'm wondering if I'll ever get to go home
Is anywhere is anywhere home
